German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier met United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees Filippo Grandi in Berlin on Wednesday. The two officials discussed the Syria crisis. Steinmeier said that his country has been pushing to reach  "an easing of the conflict" in Syria in the coming days. He added that four more aid convoys were likely to reach those "caught between various frontlines" in the next few days.

"We experienced a particularly low point in the five-year-long civil war, when hospitals, schools and health structures were included in the bombings. It's more evident that we must try anything to implement the second point of the Munich agreement. In other words, to reach a defusing and easing of the conflict in the next days, to reduce violence." said Steinmeier.

"This is the first element in stabilising this flow of people - to assist them in their own country. Then there is of course the investment in neighbouring countries, the discussion with Turkey that we are following closely and that we support very much, to stabilise the flows. And of course a better organisation of the flow of refugees inside Europe. This is a complex subject that I'm sure will be discussed in the next few days and next few weeks." said Grandi .
