nsin Assembly has just approved a bill requiring children of parents who receive benefits
through state work programs to
attend school regularly.
If not, the parents would be fined 50 U.S. dollars a month with five or more unexcused absences of their child in one semester, the Wisc-TV reported on Thursday.
Republican representative Joe Sanfellipo, who has sponsored the bill, said the goal was to keep children in school.
The Wisconsin Assembly passed the bill on Wednesday. It still needs approval from senate before the governor signs it into law.
