Saudi Arabia's foreign minister says his country is looking into additional measures against Iran, following a Gulf Cooperation Council condemnation of Iran.
The GCC countries, which also include Bahrain, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates, condemned on Saturday, what they said was Iranian interference in the internal affairs of Saudi Arabia and the region.
Saudi Arabia also had asked the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, of which Iran is a member, to convene an extraordinary meeting to discuss Iran's aggression against its embassy.
"The Ministerial Council discussed the repercussions of the attack on the Saudi Embassy in Tehran, and the Saudi consulate in the Iranian city of Mashhad. It strongly condemned these acts, and stated that Iran carries the responsibility for these terrorist acts，" said Abdullatif Al-Zayani, GCC secretary general.
"The escalation is coming from Iran, not from Saudi Arabia or the GCC. All the negative acts carried out in the region and in our countries, are coming from Iran, not the GCC. We are evaluating Iran's moves, and taking steps to counter them. Things will be clearer in the near future," said Adel Al-Jubeir, Saudi FM.
