Concerns have been raised in Thailand that elections first promised in 2015 could be delayed again, most recently because of the death of the Thai king, Bhumipol Adulyadej. The latest forecast is 2018.

Thai Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha asked his people four questions about the election during a TV address, saying that he aimed to ask the Thai people what should be done if politicians fail to govern fairly in the future.

The army assumed power in Thailand in 2014, saying they were forced to act after months of violent political protests leaving many dead. They also said that a bomb in the capital Bangkok in March may have shown it’s still too early for voters to go to the polls. The people responsible for the attack remain unknown.

An opinion poll by Bangkok university showed that 52 percent of people would vote for Chan-o-cha to remain as Prime Minister if he were to stand in an election.
