Chinese president Xi Jinping returned to Beijing on Saturday afternoon after his state visit to Kazakhstan.
At the invitation of his Kazakh counterpart Nursultan Nazarbayev, Xi paid a four-day official visit to Kazakhstan starting June 7, during which he attended the 17th meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Shanghai Cooperation organization (SCO) and the opening ceremony of the Expo 2017 in the Kazakh capital Astana.
During his visit, Xi also held talks with Kazakh, Russian, Turkmenian, and Afghan presidents, as well as Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the King of Spain Felipe VI.
The trip marks Xi's first visit to central Asia this year, and the third to Kazakhstan, which the Chinese leader visited in 2013 and 2015 respectively.
