China, Japan and South Korea are to hold a summit in Seoul, which Chinese Premier Li Keqiang will attend during his official visit to South Korea. It will be the first joint meeting of the leaders' of these countries in over three years. The news was announced by Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Hua Chunying, who also spoke of China's expectations for the summit.
"At the invitation of South Korean president Park Geun-hye, Premier Li Keqiang will visit South Korea from October 31 to November 2nd, and will attend the 6th China-Japan-South Korea leadership summit in Seoul."
"China hopes the summit can offer an opportunity to give a direction for the future cooperation between the three countries, enhance cooperation in traditional areas including economy and trade, culture and sustainable development, and expand production capacity cooperation, and cooperation in innovation, IT and emission reduction."
"We hope all sides can face up to history and work towards the future, properly deal with historical issues, and ensure the healthy and stable development of trilateral cooperation to benefit our people," Hua Chunying said.
