South Korea has formally asked China to allow one of its major retailers to resume business here despite an ongoing bilateral political dispute, an official said on Wednesday.
某位官员在3月29日透露，尽管当下两国政治争端持续进行，但韩国已经正式向中国提出了让乐天玛特恢复营业的请求。
Lotte, which operates 99 hypermarket outlets in China, has been forced to suspend 90 of those stores amid Beijing’s apparent economic retaliation over the deployment of a U.S. missile defense system in South Korea.
乐天集团曾在中国拥有99家大型商场。由于韩国执意要部署萨德系统，导致中国方面对韩国实行经济方面的制裁，90家在华的乐天商场现已停止营业。
"The Lotte Mart suspension has lasted for nearly a month, causing serious problems for business management, so we made a formal request to the Chinese government in the name of Ambassador Kim (Jang-soo)," the official at the South Korean Embassy here said, referring to the country’s top envoy to Beijing.
韩国大使馆的某位官员在此提到：“乐天玛特已在中国停业近一个月，导致商业管理方面出现严重问题，在此我们通过大使金章洙向中国政府提出正式请求。”上述提到的金章洙则是韩国驻华的最高大使。
The letter was sent Tuesday to relevant departments, including the foreign and commerce ministries, he said.
此外，他还表示这封公函已于3月28日被送到了中国外交部和商务部等有关部门。
Lotte has come under mounting pressure from Beijing since it signed a land swap deal with the Korean military under which one of its properties was offered as the site for a Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) battery.

China protests the THAAD system which is a threat to its security interests.

Lotte could suffer a loss of 116.1 billion won (US$104 million) if all 90 outlets are suspended for a month, according to industry estimates.
